Review of Hearts of Ishira by Bethany Aan
Hearts of Ishira by Bethany Aan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
I freaking loved this book! As a fan of Evangeline Anderson's Brides of the Kindred series and Tracy St. John's Clans of Kalquor series, I have found another sci-fi erotica author to love.
Hearts of Ishira starts with a bang and just keeps on getting better. Initially I was concerned that the 600+ page book would be unable to maintain my interest as I have found few authors who can successfully write an epic novel. However, Ms. Aan has crafted a well-written storyline the develops continuously and maintained my interest fully throughout the entire book as the two species integrated, relationships flourished, and challenges were encountered (and bested).
While the primary focus of this novel is the relationship between Arianna, Hunter, and Jace, we also get to experience the adventure that is Ishira as the women acclimate to their new home and new societal norms. I thoroughly enjoyed how the women learned to let go of their Southern Bible Belt upbringings to embrace the Thorsani culture, especially the "team" relationships of 1 female to 2 or more brothers.
This is the first book in the Hearts of Ishira series. So while there is an ending and not the anxiety producing cliffhangers so popular in books of late, it is an end that hints at events in the next book of the series. I look forward to reading the next book and spending more time on Ishira.
Please note: This book is erotica, so there is sex, M/F and M/F/M. Do not buy this book if you are uncomfortable reading these scenes.
