Passion's Dream by Julie Shelton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What impressed me most about Passion’s Dream is that despite being interrupted what felt like a hundred times while I was reading it, I was drawn right back into the story after reading just a few sentences each time I was able to return to my Kindle. The connection between Clay and Leah was so strong that I couldn’t help but feel the sparks between them. Of course, I knew this meant that the sex between them would be intense, so I was even more motivated to get back in the thick of it. And Ms. Shelton did not disappoint on any account.

I enjoyed the flashback scene of Leah and Clay’s first meeting. There was an obvious connection between the two, yet neither character proclaimed their love lost but rather lamented the loss of the chance at what could have been. This provided a sound base from which their relationship could develop quickly without making me feel like they rushed into it. That Leah was being stalked by her ex and was resistant to a relationship with Clay, no matter how much she was drawn to him, made their story feel real. Because of the circumstances, her mixed messages (what she said vs. how she reacted and responded physically) didn’t come off as angsty to me, but rather the actions of a justifiably cautious woman. When Leah finally gave in to the inevitable and Clay let his inner Dom out in full force… Whew! Well I’ll just say those were some seriously hot sex scenes that I was more than happy to read more than once. While I obviously enjoyed the relationship development and smoldering sex scenes, it’s the way in which the author wove them together with the romantic suspense elements of the story that made Passion’s Dream such a pleasurable read for me and one I look forward to reading again WITHOUT the constant interruptions.

While The Doms of Passion Lake is a spin-off from Ms. Shelton’s Loving Sarah series, it is not necessary to read that series first. I suspect that readers of the Loving Sarah series will enjoy catching up with Sarah, Jesse, and Adam, as they do make appearances in Passion’s Dream, but not in a way that will leave those readers who, like myself, have not read that series. It may, however, make you want to go back and read the series so that you can learn more about the trio. As much as I would like to know more about Clay’s CO and family, my reading list is a bit packed at the moment and includes the next book in this series, Passion’s Fury, and I am so excited to see if the triplets get their sexy-ly ever after in Passion’s Lake.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
