Thrill-Kinky by Teresa Noelle Roberts

Thrill-Kinky (Chronicles of the Malcolm)Thrill-Kinky by Teresa Noelle Roberts

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As a fan of sci-fi romance and erotica, I can easily see myself getting addicted to this series. Thrill-Kinky introduces us to the crew of the Malcolm, a small independent freighter. Leading the motley crew is their queerbent captain Mik and his partner Gan; a handicap ex-soldier Buck who keeps a steady level of alcohol in his system at all times; a klepto-kitty by the name of Xia; and the focus of this installment, Rita, the ship’s mechanic and backup pilot. But we learn over the course of the book that the crew of the Malcolm is more than just a collection of colleagues, they’re family…and when you mess with one, you get them all.

Our first contact with Rita is as she is mentally grumbling about drawing the short straw and getting stuck with garbage detail – literally – as she has been tasked with transporting valuable recyclables from their pickup site to the ship. While she is in the midst of bemoaning getting left out of the planet’s annual “celebration of the gods’ gift of love and desire” she makes a discovery that is far better than any sight she suspected she was missing at the festival … a gorgeous naked Banjali male, bound, gagged, and injured in the recycle bin. By the way, Banjali have wings and their males have an extremely intriguing anatomical feature that I couldn’t decide whether to laugh about or be jealous of Rita for getting to experience. But Rita’s discovery soon puts her and the crew in danger once the people responsible for dumping Drax in the bin learned that she had found him. What ensues is an action-packed thrill ride as Drax, Rita, and the crew of the Malcolm attempt to thwart a plot to start an intergalactic conflict between Drax’s home planet of Banjali and San’bal, the planet they’re currently visiting.

Thrill-Kinky is a great combination of intense action, humor, camaraderie, and really hot sex. Because they’re both adrenaline junkies (not the term used) and find themselves in a life or death situation almost immediately, Rita and Drax connect rather quickly. Even though they pretty much fall in love in less than 48 hours (even if they don’t admit it at the time), it worked for me in this book. So much happens in that short period of time that it doesn’t feel rushed. The added bonus is that despite being human, Rita turns out to be just as Thrill-Kinky as Drax and this makes for some seriously hot sex scenes, especially the final one in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the crew of the Malcolm and accompanying them on this adventure, so I am so very glad that this is just the first book in the Chronicles of Malcolm series. I am already looking forward to the next one.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
